The Tokugawa Art Museum houses many important treasures that have been handed down in the Owari Tokugawa family, the first of the three families of the shogunate. The museum introduces the history of the Owari Tokugawa family and their glamorous and elegant feudal lord culture through the "Sunpu Gobunmono," an object left behind by Ieyasu, and other items that were the personal belongings of successive heads of the family and their wives, swords, tea ceremony utensils, incense implements, and Noh costumes. The exhibition will also feature the National Treasure "The Tale of Genji Picture Scroll," known as one of the most famous works of art in the world, and the National Treasure "Hatsune no Chotsu," which was brought by Princess Chiyo, the eldest daughter of the third shogun, Iemitsu, as her wedding furnishings.
